Locating Enquiries
Tracing Services
Professional tracing services designed to help establish current contact, location and other relevant information concerning persons of interest.
Overview
What this service covers
People become hard to find for ordinary reasons at least as often as deliberate ones. They move, change numbers, change employment, or simply lose touch with the party that now needs them.
Tracing establishes current, verified contact and location information for a named individual, and records how recent and how reliable each piece of that information is.
Typical situations
When You May Need This Service
A witness is needed and cannot be found
A material witness has moved or changed contact details.
A beneficiary or next of kin must be identified
A payment, policy or estate requires the correct person to be located and confirmed.
A party has gone quiet
Correspondence is unanswered and it is unclear whether it is reaching anyone at all.
Details on file have aged
Information held needs re-verification before it is relied on.
Scope
What We Investigate
The enquiries below are the ones most often required. Scope is agreed for each instruction, so a file only carries the work it actually needs.
- Current address enquiries
- Contact number verification
- Employment and activity enquiries
- Next of kin and beneficiary enquiries
- Witness location
- Confirmation of identity
- Re-verification of aged information
Methodology
Our Approach
Each instruction follows the same sequence, so findings can be traced back to how they were established.
Identity confirmation
We establish that the subject is properly identified before enquiries begin, so the wrong person is not traced.
Source enquiry
Available records and sources are used to develop current location and contact information.
Field verification
Where appropriate, addresses and occupancy are confirmed on the ground rather than assumed from a record.
Dated reporting
Findings are reported with the date and the basis of verification for each item.
Output
What You Receive
Reporting is the product. Every instruction closes with a written record that sets out what was established and on what basis.
Tracing report
Location and contact information established, with the date and basis of each finding.
Verification status
Whether each item was confirmed in the field, taken from a record, or not confirmed at all.
Supporting record
Photographs or notes supporting an address confirmation, where these were obtained.
Documented negative
Where the subject could not be located, the enquiries made are set out in full.

Questions
Frequently Asked
If your question is not answered here, our team can usually give you a direct answer before you commit to anything.
As much identifying detail as you hold: full name, any former addresses, date of birth, identification numbers, and any known associates or employment.
No. Some subjects cannot be located from the information available, and some enquiries are not open to us. We report what the enquiry established, including a negative result.
Only if the instruction asks for it. Confirmation of an address can often be completed without approaching the subject at all.
Each finding is dated. Where information came from a record rather than a field check, the report says so.
