Asset Enquiries
Asset Tracing
Investigative enquiries designed to identify information concerning assets, ownership interests, locations and relevant connections.
Overview
What this service covers
Asset tracing is an information exercise. The question is what can be established about assets, interests and connections held by or connected to a subject, and, just as importantly, what cannot.
We gather and verify information from sources we can properly reach. We do not seize, freeze, collect or recover anything, and we do not act as agents in any enforcement step. What we produce is information a client and their advisers can act on.
This is an investigative information-gathering service. GradeCrest does not provide debt collection or debt recovery services.
Typical situations
When You May Need This Service
A decision depends on what a party actually holds
Litigation, credit or commercial decisions require a realistic picture of assets and interests.
The declared position looks incomplete
What has been disclosed does not fit what is otherwise known about the subject.
Connections need to be mapped
Interests may sit with related parties, companies or associates rather than the subject directly.
Earlier information has aged
Information held from a previous enquiry needs re-verification before it is relied on again.
Scope
What We Investigate
The enquiries below are the ones most often required. Scope is agreed for each instruction, so a file only carries the work it actually needs.
- Identification of assets and interests
- Ownership and title enquiries
- Corporate and directorship connections
- Related party and associate enquiries
- Property and premises enquiries
- Verification of previously held information
- Source referencing of each finding
Methodology
Our Approach
Each instruction follows the same sequence, so findings can be traced back to how they were established.
Scope and legitimacy
We agree what is being sought and confirm the enquiry can be carried out by proper means.
Information gathering
Public, commercial and field sources available to us are used to build a picture of assets and interests.
Verification
Information is corroborated where possible, and anything uncorroborated is identified as such.
Structured reporting
Findings are set out with each item attributed to the basis on which it was established.
Output
What You Receive
Reporting is the product. Every instruction closes with a written record that sets out what was established and on what basis.
Asset information report
What was identified, how it was established, and the confidence attaching to each item.
Connection summary
Corporate, directorship and associate links identified during the enquiry.
Source attribution
Each finding referenced to the basis on which it was established.
Statement of limits
What could not be established, and why, recorded explicitly.

Questions
Frequently Asked
If your question is not answered here, our team can usually give you a direct answer before you commit to anything.
No. GradeCrest is an investigations firm. We establish and document information. We do not collect, recover, seize or enforce, and we do not act as agents for any party doing so.
Sources we can properly and lawfully reach, including public records, commercial registries and field enquiry. We do not claim access to sources we do not have.
No, and any firm that offers such a guarantee should be treated with caution. We report what the enquiry establishes, including where it establishes nothing.
The report sets out findings and their basis clearly. Whether and how it is used in proceedings is a matter for the advocates acting for the client.
