Claims Investigation
Insurance Investigations
Independent investigations into insurance claims and related circumstances, helping insurers establish facts, verify information and understand the circumstances surrounding a claim.
Overview
What this service covers
An insurance claim is a set of assertions. Our role is to test those assertions against what can be independently observed, verified and documented. We do not decide the claim; we give the person assessing it a reliable factual basis for the decision they have to make.
We are instructed across all classes of business, from motor and property through to liability and medical. Every file begins with the material the insurer already holds, so our enquiries add to the record rather than repeat it.
Typical situations
When You May Need This Service
The account does not fit the documents
Reported circumstances sit awkwardly against the claim form, the police abstract or the supporting paperwork.
The claim is large or unusual
The exposure justifies independent confirmation of the facts before the file progresses any further.
Key details cannot be confirmed from the desk
Addresses, witnesses, premises or property need to be visited and confirmed on the ground.
An earlier enquiry left gaps
A previous report answered some questions but left the central ones open.
Scope
What We Investigate
The enquiries below are the ones most often required. Scope is agreed for each instruction, so a file only carries the work it actually needs.
- Claimant verification
- Circumstance verification
- Witness enquiries
- Accident investigations
- Loss verification
- Background enquiries
- Field investigations
Methodology
Our Approach
Each instruction follows the same sequence, so findings can be traced back to how they were established.
Instruction review
We confirm what needs to be established, what has already been gathered, and which questions the report must answer.
Field enquiry
Investigators attend the relevant locations, trace and interview the people involved, and record what is observed.
Verification
Statements and documents are checked against independent sources wherever those sources are properly available to us.
Reporting and review
Findings are written up, kept separate from opinion, and reviewed internally before the report is released.
Output
What You Receive
Reporting is the product. Every instruction closes with a written record that sets out what was established and on what basis.
Written investigation report
A structured report setting out the instruction, the enquiries made, what was established and what could not be.
Supporting evidence
Statements, photographs and copies of documents obtained during the enquiry, referenced to the findings they support.
A clear factual position
Findings stated plainly, with any limitation on the enquiry recorded rather than glossed over.
Capacity to follow up
Where the report raises a further question, we can extend the enquiry under the same file.

Questions
Frequently Asked
If your question is not answered here, our team can usually give you a direct answer before you commit to anything.
No. We establish and document facts. The decision on liability and settlement rests entirely with the insurer.
The claim file or a summary of it: the claim form, any statements or abstracts already held, contact details for the parties, and a clear note of what you need established.
Where we interview a claimant or witness directly, they will know we are acting for the insurer. We tell you in advance which lines of enquiry involve contact and which do not.
Yes. Assignments are handled countrywide, and the report records where each enquiry was carried out.
